David Atkins's work is part of a long tradition of passionate and direct engagement with the English countryside, dating back to Constable. His masterfully dynamic brushwork truly captures the raw essence and majesty of the British landscape In the past year he has produced a series of paintings catching those fleeting moments of light and atmosphere found in the heart of London. His most recent paintings, however, are of the Dorset landscape, close to his home. |

Atkins was the winner of the Discerning Eye -- ' Facade International Prize ' -- in 2000. His paintings are produced with vigour and intuitiveness, allowing the process of working and reworking to consolidate the truthful response of the subject. |
