Noel Barker was born in Leeds in 1924. After a busy life working for the famous specialist in flower arrangement, Constance Spry, acting as a professional organiser of parties and social functions as well as raising a family, Noel Barker turned to painting in 1978.
What had started as an instant enthusiasm became a full-time activity. Becoming dissatisfied with the restrictions of 'conventional' art, she began to follow her own artistic instincts.

Noel has had no formal training but the style which she has developed has become very popular with the art buying public. Since her purely naive beginnings, her work has developed in a number of different ways.
Noel Barker's paintings have been widely shown in galleries in The United Kingdom including Anna Mei Chadwick, the Medici and the Century Galleries in London, and also in Australia and South Africa. They are in collections worldwide.
