The artist (Johnny) has reached this promontory - it's where he's up to. He looks down on the mechanism that has fuelled his creative flame thus far. His partner, strong-limbed and unconsciously sensuous, doesn't see the need for his vigil, though she's not oblivious to it. She rebels luxuriously against its demands. The jackal threatens his independence, it represents all the things that kill artistic freedom, mostly imaginary; figments of paranoia. His daughter, the artist's daughter that is, the tern, points in a different direction, to the geographical world at large. |
