The distant lakeland mountains are still snow-capped
and the hedgerows bare. Early daffodils are in flower. The wind is cutting
and the man who is still frail from a long winter illness, buckles somewhat
before it. His strong partner, in her excellent self-knitted jacket, is
concerned but knows the worst of both his illness and the winter are receding.
