An incident remembered from boyhood and anthropomorphised, perhaps two incidents conflated. We, my twin brother and I, were always warned of the nebulous dangers of the beach where we grew up. Later, shamefully, we bullied two small boys there, to personify and perpetuate this atmosphere of menace. |
