On a milky autumn afternoon Eli leaves Mouse reading by the fire and sets off across the moor to visit his occasional lover, Jumboleen. On the walk he has two inner transformations, shown here externally. Just past Pod Rock, as his lunchtime broth kicks in, Eli's noble thoughts turn him into Lord Gnosher, golden aristocrat of the Northern Kingdom, but after a brief sojourn in the dense mystery of Darkwood, on the long curving path to Jumboleen's house, he becomes Syd Oliphaunt, complete with cheap flowers and contraceptives in pocket. She, meantime, is entertaining a fantasy of her own ..... . |
