I was thinking loosely of Kazuo Ishiguro's long, labyrinthine and Kafkaesque novel "The Unconsoled" at times whilst I painted this. The worried expression on the face of the courier-bee is explained by the steady ticking from within the anonymous parcel entrusted to him by the mouse bell-hop, but there's not much explanation for anything else - don't look at me ! |
