Several people have asked me whether or not I do any painting or sketching while on holiday and the fact is that, like most other people, I want a break from my work.. Besides, I want to be completely present in the new place in a light way and not absorbed in artistic activity which, frankly, would involve the same heavy process anywhere. This painting, which recalls a recent holiday, was not a holiday activity but a piece of work undertaken afterwards in my studio and my intention, as well as trying to capture the feel of the particular Greek island, was to dedicate a little paradox, a mild irony. |
