When the young American art collector, Booth Foley, buys the small Cumbrian estate of Flask he inherits two ancient gardeners-cum-handymen, Moaner and Wanckel. Whilst the pair are camping out in an nearby wood for a week on an expedition -- the main purpose of which is the old rustic tradition of "clutching", which consists basically of annoying badgers -- their master decides on a whim to bring in a vaunted interior designer to redecorate their twin huts. On their return the retainers seek the first decent opportunity to kill the hapless transatlantic parvenu. |
