This ancient broadleaf wood, which straddles the railway line between towns of Voal and Hamstaugh, was home to all sorts of creatures who lived there happily, perfectly happily. The bridge depicted was built about two years earlier than this scene for the express purpose of helping these creatures, some of them legless, across the track and stands at the southern outskirts of the wood. The train approaching is the mid-morning fish freight from the port of Pylowe, at the mouth of the Nesia, to Charing Cross. |
