I lay awake, as so often, in the middle of the night and, rather than thresh pointlessly around, turned the time to account by thinking up this picture. My small hours conception was quite unlike this really, a bleak and monochrome vision that might have been more faithfully realised by an artist of a radical bent, like Max Ernst maybe.
The gulf between thought and expression always catches me unaware but it doesn't confound or depress me. It's like breath, breath of Heaven.
