Depixol, or flupenthixol is an anti-psychotic drug which I took for 22 years, administered every 2 to 4 weeks into my backside, until this treatment was replaced by a kinder regime of tablets in 1997.
So lousy did it make me feel for the week following each injection that I swear that had I won the pools bigtime in that week it wouldn't have cheered me up. No matter that I didn't do the pools.
I look back on what amounted to years of unproductive misery with bitterness -- not seething, crippling resentment or moral outrage but a pleasant, sustaining bitterness. A bit like Guinness.
