Family Life
Acrylic on wood panel

This painting started out as The Boyhood of Jesus, but as the scene evolved I felt that that made no special sense so I simply kept in mind an ordinary family group, with livestock and resident domestic deity. This latter takes the form, as you can see, of a sort of extra-terrestrial-cum-grandfather clock, which seems perfectly reasonable to me. The main thing is that it's benign. The mother is naked because she generally likes to feel sexy, even around the children. This keeps the dumbcluck of a husband in a permanent state of mixed embarrassment and arousal, but is a matter of indifference to the children themselves, thank goodness.
Actually she wants to feel sexy for me. Yes, even though we've only met the once.
