Plateau
Acrylic on wood panel
48" x 24"
£4,600

I think of the end of a happy and successful working day as a plateau attained, an unassailable place. A happy day is one, to be honest, where there is the reward of alcohol at its close. Paradoxically this is also a bit of a sad state of affairs, but there you are.
Well in this scene Mr World is having a beer while contemplating the evidence of his day's labours in the light of evening. His wife is still hard at it in the (embryonic) garden, but that's her business. A lion has just made it to the level below theirs after a strenuous climb. Is he a threat or a friend? Looks a bit of both. Perhaps a threat to Mr World and a friend to his missus.
