Foreword by Ian Courcoux

Lawrence Murley needs no introduction to the majority of gallery patrons, having had three previous solo exhibitions here. His masterly skills of carving unusual and difficult marbles result in sculptures rich in colour and form.

As always, Murley uses marbles from around the world, with marvellous colour and striations running through the finished piece, accentuated by the contrast between the polished and unpolished surfaces.
The quality of the sculpture speaks for itself, with great artistic talent allied to many hours of carving and polishing.

In this exhibition there are many of his favourite subjects - frogs and lizards - but among the newcomers are a pony head, a copperhead snake and a crab, as well as a rare turtle.
