Foreword by Ian Courcoux

As this is the twelfth foreword which I have written on Guy Taplin over the past 17 years, I don't feel that anything other than the shortest missive is warranted here! This brochure illustrates about two thirds of the sculptures in the exhibition. Responsibility for the number of curlews and shorebirds can be laid at my door as I love the various poses in which Guy portrays them -- running, standing, preening, feeding, the body changes shape dramatically with each action.

I am also extremely enthusiastic about the group of wall pieces this time around. They are more dynamic than previous pieces of this nature and are a highly successful addition to the Taplin repertoire.

I think that it is also worth noting that Guy has reduced the prices of the work in this show compared with those eighteen months ago. Guy is a pragmatic man. When the factors which bring a little uncertainty to the economy have passed the prices will increase again, so the astute may see this as an extremely opportune time to buy Taplins.

Whatever one's view, there are some truly stunning pieces over which to ponder for anyone with an interest in the work of Guy Taplin.
