Foreword by Ian Courcoux |

It is always a joy to have an exhibition of Guy Taplin's
work in the gallery. As many will know, Guy is my oldest friend in the
contemporary art world and it is difficult to believe that it is now eighteen
years since his first one-man show in the Salisbury gallery. Indeed, it
was the gallery's very first solo exhibition, with seventy-odd pieces
festooning the place!

There are only about half that number in a Taplin show these days and Guy undertakes a maximum of one exhibition per year and, thirteen solo Taplin exhibitions later, there is work of the highest quality on offer. |

The beautifully balanced Flamingoes, the Egrets wall panel and the Sleeping Pintail are but three outstanding examples of Taplin's work in this comprehensive show of both new ideas and old favourites. |

The last Taplin exhibition was the most successful that we have ever staged and, with prices only marginally higher ahead of his London show next year, we can be hopeful of similar success on this occasion. Ian Courcoux |
